It all started with a love for drawing and excitement for drawing, crafting, and do-it-yourself projects when I was a child. I recall pausing cartoon movies and attempting to draw whatever was up on the screen and from there I started to enter my drawings to the local grocery market contests. I humbly recall winning a few of those contests, which I believe encouraged my passion for drawing and crafting. 

This childhood hobby led me to work as a painter/personalizer for Crackerjacks Gift Company, a cute small-town gift shop in Redlands, California. I painted piggy banks, toy boxes, picture frames, footballs, ornaments, etc..

Once I graduated high school, I moved on to work in the wedding industry.  I started off as an employee for a banquet staff for the Edwards Mansion. I loved and valued the experience I obtained working weddings and events, but it was quite the labor-intensive job. After bidding the Edwards Mansion farewell, I ventured into working for Party Rentals, a party rental supply company. I discovered how much I truly enjoyed helping people plan their parties and I discovered some hidden talents I had for decorating tables for events.

While I truly enjoyed the wedding industry, I was presented with an opportunity to work for Kirkley Corporation, a general contracting company. During this time I started my own part-time business as a painter/personalizer as Angie's Personals and I would often set up my vendor booth at local street fairs and large craft festivals.  I would assist friends and families with their weddings and events and I did some work illustrating a children's book too. 

About a decade later, I started my corporate career working for Burlingame Industries, a successful family-owned manufacturing company. I had an invaluable experience and wore many hats for the Burlingame family, starting with processing solar incentives, to working alongside company executives as a business analyst, to assisting sales and marketing with a new product launch, to accepting a position as a Salesforce administrator.

Growing up with a Deaf sibling, I naturally had an interest in working with the Deaf community. For about 4 years I spent most of my evenings at a local college taking interpreting courses. I received my undergrad certificate and worked part-time as an American Sign Language interpreter.

Although another decade has passed me by working in the corporate world, I have kept up designing and crafting in my spare time. Everyone around me is always asking what I'm going to do next.  Whether it be for the next birthday party, wedding or special event, my creative outlet is always present.

Along the way I met my sweetheart and after 10 beautiful years we got hitched, and I gained not only a husband, but an awesome son.  We were recently blessed with another baby boy and are enjoying our expanding family.  My super supportive husband is amazing and our children are my world.

A very special friend of mine finally gave me that last little bit of nudge I needed to start this company. One day, over lunch, she said, "Girl, you're like a splash of joy in my life! You have some serious talent and you need to share that joy and talent with the world!". Thus, Splash of Joy was born!

I have re-lit my passion for art, crafting, DIY and more, and I'm super excited to share all of my ideas and events with you. As one of my son's favorite songs says, "I've got joy like a fountain in my soul"! Now let's have some fun, learn new things, encourage more smiles, and spread some more love and joy into this world!
